So it’s about time that Hans introduced  his favorite trail running company, Envirosports, to the world of Justin’s Famous Sports Chickens!    ALL THESE YEARS AND he hs not put on this site the fact that he and his brother Eric used to run the trail races while throwing a rubber chicken back and forth at each other.  Imagine running up a steep incline in the California redwoods, and you hear a voice above you, “GO!” it yells.  And from somewhere below you in the woods you then hear “CHICKEN!”  AND SOMETHING FLIES OVER YOUR HEAD from the upper trail to the lower trail, A RUBBER CHICKEN!  And the guy below you catches it and keeps running.  Yes this is what Hans and Eric did together in the early 2000’s.  NO JOKE!  It was there they  met the organizers of Envirosports, Dave and Wendy Horning.
Dave is an absolute trip, and HANS  IS A COMPLETE SLACKER for not having Dave sign a sports chicken for him.  Turns out since 2002 Dave  and Wendy totally adopted the “Envirochickens” when Eric and Hans gave him some after the Death Valley Marathon. Dave gave the rubber chickens to the race winners. The result was so overwhelming, the crowd loved it, that Dave decided to give out rubber chickens to ALL of his Envirosports race winners.  BUT IT GET’S BETTER.  Dave EVEN bronzed a rubber chicken to give out to the Death Valley Marathon winners.
BUT AGAIN HANS IS A SLACKER AND HAS YET TO GET A RUBBER CHICKEN SIGNED BY DAVE!  So he is tasked with running an Envirosports race next year and getting a rubber chicken signed by Dave AND Wendy!
IN THE MEAN TIME Let’s get to Ed Ettinghausen.  Turns out Hans ran into Ed at the 2011 Death Valley Marathon.  Did I mention that Hans is a slacker?  He only ran the 10K.  And he wore a chicken hat and ran with a rubber chicken.  BUT he did manage to be at the finish line on time to get a photo of Ed actually finishing the marathon.  GET THIS, ED ran the marathon with a CHEESE HEAD HAT!  Turns out he normally runs with a court jester hat.  Perhaps it was destiny for Hans and Ed to meet!
Ed is a running mad man, running the equivalent of 135 marathons in a single year.  When Hans found this out, and that Ed has also run the 135 mile Death Valley Badwater Ultramarathon, but of course Hans had Ed sign a chicken!!!!!!!!
